Cocoa Azteca
Xocolatl was the name of the fabled ceremonial drink the Aztecs served the Spaniards upon arrival in 1519, now referred to as chocolate. This traditional Mexican drink is laced with fragrant spices such as cocoa liquor, real vanilla, almond, and cinnamon.
Served warm, this delight was reputedly somewhat more bitter, but sweetened
with TGG© Sweet Crema. The ingredients listed are a guideline. Pay
attention at our Two Guys Grilling© Class to note the current interpretation
of this ancient recipe.
1 Gallon Milk (nonfat, 2% or whole)
10 Wafers Chocolate Para Mesa Montezuma (99 Cent store - 6 Wafers per
box)
1 TBS Pure Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Cayenne Molido
2 1/4 tsp Pasilla Molido
2 Dried Whole Chile Negro (capped, seeded)
Cinnamon stick
Raw Cane Sugar Cone
Heat Milk on Medium and bring to slow boil in a 8 quart pan uncovered
Reduce heat to simmer (continue stirring to avoid burning)
Add Dried whole chile, Pasilla, Cayenne and vanilla
Heat for 5 minutes before adding Xocalatl Wafers (broken into small pieces)
Continue stirring while wafers dissolve in the liquid
Pour into individual serving cups
Top with large dollop TGG Sweet Crema
Micro plane cinnamon stick and sugar cone to dust the Crema
Decant and Serve
We can blame the conquistadors for a five hundred year lapse in our enjoyment
of this liquid delight. Your version of this Two Guys Grilling© recipe
will become a family tradition. I Gar-on-tee!
